Sara Lesch is a photographer and a freelance cultural journalist; born in Santiago de Chile 1970. She was co-editor of the cultural art magazine Presens and also worked with other cultural magazines like Glänta.
In retrospect her photography has often dealt with investigations about heritage and the creation of the self, like the series "Epicris" and "Far Away". The later photography is abstract and monochrome with focus on "States" of mind, often capturing feelings and signs in the every day life. The "Decisive" series is on the other hand is a comment to Henri Cartiér-Bresson and his notion about the "decisive moment", interpreted in her own way.
"Photography is not like painting. There is a creative fraction of a second when you are taking a picture. Your eye must see a composition or an expression that life itself offers you, and you must know with intuition when to click the camera. That is the moment the photographer is creative," he said. "Oop! The Moment! Once you miss it, it is gone forever."
Cartiér -Bresson interviewed in the Washington Post 1957.
Sara Lesch is currently working as project leader for international youth work in the City of Molndal and lives in Gothenburg in the west of Sweden.
